Migraine, Migraines, Headaches, Headaches, Head Pain, Migraine Headaches, Migraine Relief, Headache ReliefChronic headaches can strike at anytime and anyplace. Living from day to day in fear of when the next attack may occur is common for those who suffer from this condition. A variety of health care options are available making it hard to know what is best. Some questions that are commonly asked by those coping with headaches are:

  • Which care option is the best?
  • Which one has the least amount of harmful side effects?
  • Are there any natural methods that have proven to be successful?

We will try to help answer some of these questions.

Research has pointed to the brainstem as the main source of headaches. The brainstem is the part of the body that connects the brain with the spinal cord and, in turn, the rest of the body. If oxygen to the brain is restricted, the end result can be a headache. Oxygen can be restricted due to inhibition of the vertebral arteries caused by a misalignment of the C1 or C2 vertebra. This may have occurred if one was in an accident or had any kind of a blow to the head or neck – even if it happened a long time ago.

Where to Find Proper Relief

Some suggest light therapy, essential oils, over-the-counter or prescription drugs, or even surgery to cope with headaches. One area that has seen great success is that of upper cervical chiropractic care. Here at Dynamic Life Chiropractic, we examine each patient’s neck to find out if a misalignment of the atlas (C1) is at the root of one’s headaches. This is done by using a series of x-rays. We then use a gentle adjustment to realign the bones on an as-needed basis. This results in improved blood flow to and from the brain.

In a series of case studies, 101 patients were observed. All of them had some sort of headache disorder. Of these, 87 of them remembered having injuries to their upper neck. After receiving upper cervical care, 85 of them reported seeing their headaches go away completely in 1 to 8 months’ time. 12 others stated that they saw a decrease in frequency and intensity of their headaches.
